Cultivate your well being

Practicing yoga is like the tossing of a pebble into a pond and watching the effect of the ripples spreading far and wide.  With each pose and each breath, we bring balance and healing to our self and that healing ripples all about us and beyond.

My Personal Journey Through Pain and Healing

My path to becoming a wellness practitioner has been shaped by a series of physical challenges and life experiences. From a young age, I encountered various incidents — falling down the stairs at age four and breaking my nose, colliding with a car door while cycling down a steep road, and enduring multiple falls on skis and mountain bikes. Each event contributed to years of chronic neck and back pain, leading to an ongoing search for relief and healing.

In my efforts to find solutions, I visited countless chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists, accumulating a range of equipment and gadgets that promised relief but seldom delivered lasting results. This persistent search reflected both my determination and the complexity of my condition.

Life’s twists and turns often push us to make choices that we feel are necessary for survival and stability. For me, this meant pursuing a long corporate career, which provided the stability I sought. However, the demands of long hours and high stress gradually took a toll on both my mental and physical wellbeing.

These varied life experiences have profoundly influenced who I am today, granting me a deeper and more personal understanding of pain, trauma, and stress, and how these can affect each individual in unique ways. Through this journey, I have come to realise that healing is neither linear nor identical for everyone; there is no magic pill or one-size-fits-all solution.

My hope is that, by sharing my experiences and maintaining a continual drive to learn about the human body’s capacity for healing, I can support others in their own journeys. Through the practices of yoga therapy, reiki, and, in time, craniosacral therapy, I aim to help individuals unlock their bodies’ potential for self-healing and greater resilience.

Testimonials

Nancy

I started doing yoga at age 60 with a wonderful person close to my home on Long Island.  When my spouse and I retired and moved to California it took me a while to find the right place, but I eventually was fortunate enough to find Jodi.  She is a joy to work with.  I cannot do all the positions and movements well —I have had two knees and a hip replaced as well as shoulder surgery over the past 5 years—but Jodi always has a modification that I can work with.  And it has been yoga that has allowed me to recover well from those events.

Jodi is positive, supportive, encouraging, and adaptive.  She made the transition to Zoom to carry her classes through the pandemic so easily.  I cannot praise her enough for all that she has done and continues to do for me through her yoga classes.

Alan

"I always look forward to my weekly Parkinson's Yoga class with Jodi. She is kind and compassionate, and an excellent teacher. I've been feeling a lot better ever since I started working with Jodi, and I also appreciate that she allows my wife to attend the class with me. She also really seems to care about my health and well-being. Jodi truly understands how to work with people who have advanced Parkinson's Disease, and I feel lucky to have her as my teacher."

Carol

I’ve been attending the Yoga for PD classes for 4+ years, and I love it. The classes are fun and quite the work-out.  I always feel so good after class.  Camaraderie and friendship is great too!

Rosemary

"I have been practicing yoga for quite a few years and consistently since I was diagnosed with PD. Jodi's class keeps us moving and stretching so people at all stages of PD find her class helpful. You can adjust all moves to work with your level of flexibility and strength and over time will be able to do more, as I have found. It is a pleasure to attend her class every week and it is a great way to meet other people with PD on a regular basis. I can highly recommend her class."
